MEET THE EC3 TEAM

EC3 is a world-renowned Drummer, Percussionist, Clinician, Educator, Producer and Arranger. EC3 is the youngest Musician to graduate from The Naval School of Music. After graduating he moved to Las Vegas and began working shows and breaking his way in to the Jazz scene. There he joined Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett’s Jazz Pianist, Vincent Falcone. Shortly thereafter, EC3 became the “first call’ Drummer on the Vegas Scene.

EC3 was hired as Musical Director for many acts, performing in Vegas and all over the world. EC3 also performed with The Las Vegas Symphony Orchestra, the Caesars Palace Orchestra, Harrah’s Reno and Tahoe Orchestras. EC3 went on to develop the rare quality of “conducting from behind the drums”. EC3 has performed with some of the greats like Jay Leno, Bill Cosby and Whoopi Goldberg.

EC3 also worked with jazz legends Kenny Burrell, Lorenzo Almedia, Joe Williams, Diahann Carroll, Vic Damone, John and Jeff Clayton, Niki Haris, Azar Lawrence, Russell Malone, Wycliffe Gordon and Gerald Albright.  EC3 then got the call of a life time—to perform with Jazz Giant Bassist, Mr. Al McKibbon (from the Giants of Jazz with Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk). This relationship would grow into one of the best musical experiences EC3 could ever ask for. EC3 auditioned and got the part for the musical "The Bourbon Street Review". As his relationship grew with Al, they became like father and son as McKibbon took EC3 under his wing. The show ran for a few years and Al McKibbon asked EC3 to come to L.A. and work with his band. Of course, EC3 packed up and moved to Los Angeles and began working with the Al McKibbon quartet. He became a regular at The Twin Palms (owned by Actor Kevin Costner).

Shortly after that EC3 joined jazz great Mr. Billy Higgins and began studying with Billy and learning from one of the masters on drums. EC3 has recorded 10 phenomenal CDs as a producer and band leader. EC3 is also in high demand to teach master classes and clinics as well as students seeking private instruction.

The name Tyrone Jackson is the quintessential jazz piano player. His boundless creativity coupled with harmonic mastery, utilizes the piano as a blank canvas. Jackson is nationally recognized and has traveled the world as a solo artist and sideman. Born in the New Orleans cradle of jazz, Jackson embodies the spirit of the Crescent City. The blends of jazz, funk and afro-caribbean melodies are ever present in his work. But of course, musicians are never solely influenced by themselves. Jackson’s teachers are a virtual Who’s Who of great jazz piano players ranging from Ellis Marsalis, Mary Ann Bulla to gospel/classical legend Moses Hogan.

As a composer, Jackson has composed original music for Pulitizer Prize winning author Natasha Tretheway's book of poems "Native Guard" turned theatrical play, Pearl Clege's play, "Tell Me My Dream", "Ethel" by Terri Burrell and this past year’s Alliance Theater production of “Nick’s Flamingo Grill.” Jackson has recorded 4 Albums—“Dedicated”, “Another Voyage”, “Melody In Nede”, and new release “From The Mind Of.” Additionally, Jackson’s work in “Native Guard” was premiered in Los Angeles, CA at the famous Sage Hills Academy from January 9-15, 2017.
In addition to his composition skills, the jazz wonder is most known for his compelling solos. Jackson’s improvisational skills allow him to become a part of the song whether he softly highlights ballads or tears through fast-paced standards.

Currently Tyrone Jackson is a professor at Kennesaw State University where he is Lecturer of Jazz Piano and teaches a myriad of classes including: Aural Skills III & IV, Jazz Improvisation I, II & III, Jazz Combo, Jazz Theory, Applied Jazz Piano, Group Jazz Piano and History of the Blues. Adrian ”Egg” Norton (Bass Guitarist)

My musical journey began by playing the trumpet in Elementary and Jr. High School. In the seventh grade I made the transition over to the Tuba. The fact was that everyone else played the trumpet too and there was a great need for someone to play the Tuba. That is where I started and fell in love with the foundation of the bass and how very important it was to the overall sound of music in general. I started playing the electric bass when I was 14 years old and my first instructor was Mr. Dan Bowens. I continued my musical journey at Suitland Sr. High School and  at Prince Georges Community College. I am also one of the founding fathers of the popular 1980’s Go-Go band named Ayre Rayde. We played in and around the Washington, DC area for about 10 years. That is where I truly learned the essence of funk and the importance of locking in the groove with the drummer.

I am also a managing partner and the bass guitarist for Phaze II. Phaze II is a six-piece contemporary jazz band that has been performing together in and around  the Washington, DC area for close to 20 years. Phaze II was chosen the winners of the 2005 Capital Jazz Challenge Competition. This competition was held at the 13th Annual Capital Jazz Festival in Columbia, MD. We were the house band for the Catch a Rising Star Showcase at the Capital Jazz Festival where I served as the Music Director. I am also the bassist at Victory Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA, Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Arlington, VA and St. Matthews Baptist Church in Capitol Heights, MD. In 2008, I had the honor of playing for Pope Benedict in front of about 60,000 people at Nationals Stadium in Washington, DC.

In 2010, I had the opportunity to travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for three months and perform with Hajji & the Jump Street Band. I also served as MD for the legendary Regina Belle and in 2016 had the opportunity to travel to South Africa with Regina and legendary The Manhattans. These were three life changing experiences that I will never forget. I have also had the privilege of working with such great artist as; Regina Belle, Kenny Lattimore, El DeBarge, Frank McComb, The Softones, The Intruders, CeCe Peniston, MeL’isa Morgan, Paul Taylor, Club Nouveau, Matthew Whitaker, Conya Doss, Bob Baldwin, Tim Bowman, Tony Exum Jr., Dee Lucas, Keith Killgo, Ricky Wellman, Lori Jenaire, Marcus Anderson, BK Jackson, Althea Rene, Gail Jhonson, Oli Silk, Lynn Fiddmont, Kevin Whalum, Cindy Bradley, Jackiem Joyner, Lin Roundtree, Special Occasions, NexXzit, Youthful Spirits, The Men for Christ, and the late Sam Smith along with countless other artist.

I would like to thank my loving parents Elbert & Mary Norton for all of your love and support. A very special thank you to my queen Ramona for being my number one fan! To the Parker family & my VTMBC family thanks for always being there for me! Most of all I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with the ability and having the privilege to make the beautiful sound of music!
